On a budget?

  • Color creates interest and prevents a room from looking bland.

  • Shrug off winter and lighten up your décor with buttercup yellow and a splash of scarlet red.

  • Paint is very inexpensive.

  • Freshen up worn out upholstered dining chairs with printed bed sheets, embroidered napkins, or even vintage dresses with a hint of yellow in the fabric - this makes a pretty and inexpensive "cover up".

  • No money left for an armoire? Create a dramatic finish with a bold flower bouquet on the feature wall. The mural should pull all colors of the room together.

  • Add a no sew window treatment made from leftover fabric - machine-dyed in buttercup yellow - hang casually from black rods by metal clips.

You can find these ideas in chapter 12 and more budget thoughts in my book, No Gluing & Screwing, none of Martha's doing!
